Historical Concepts

Historical Concepts are ways that help historians, students, teachers... really EVERYONE to view, interpret and understand things that have happened in the past.

It's like having seven sets of different glasses, and every time you put on a different pair of glasses you see what you are looking at in a different way.

These concepts will also help develop your CRITICAL THINKING, so that even in real life you can understand what someo
ne or something is trying to make you do or feel. For instance, if you are having a disagreement with a friend, you could put your PERSPECTIVE (seeing things from someone elses point of view) glasses on and your EMPATHY (feeling how someone else is feeling) glasses on and get a better understanding of what might be causing the argument.

For this section, read through each of the SEVEN Historical Concepts, and:

1. Make notes in your HISTORY notepad (dont forget to add a title and the date)

2. As you read about each concept, think about how you could use it in HISTORY but also in REAL LIFE
